Teaching Big Truths Through Little Stories: Our Parables of Jesus Collection

If you’ve ever watched a child’s eyes light up during story time, you already know how powerful stories can be. Stories help little hearts connect big ideas to real life — and that’s exactly why Jesus taught so often through parables. These simple yet profound stories made deep truths about God’s love and the Kingdom of Heaven understandable, even for young listeners.

At Sweeter Than Honey Curriculum, we believe our toddlers and preschoolers can begin learning from these same parables in a way that’s hands-on, engaging, and age-appropriate. That’s why we created our Parables of Jesus Collection — a bundle of four Bible-based lessons designed to help little ones understand God’s truth through storytelling.

What’s Included

This collection includes full, Bible-based lesson sets:

  • The Parable of the Lost Sheep (Luke 15:3–7)

  • The Parable of the Lost Coin (Luke 15:8–10)

  • The Parable of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11–32)

  • The Parable of the Sower (Matthew 13:1–23)

Each unit includes four detailed lesson plans, Bible readings, discussion prompts, memory verses, simple crafts, and hands-on activities that make learning interactive and fun for even the youngest children. This is a growing collection, and more parable lessons are coming soon!

Why We Created Them

Jesus used stories to teach the most important truths about God — truth about love, forgiveness, and faith. Just as He spoke in parables so everyone could understand, we believe even toddlers and preschoolers can begin to grasp those same truths through storytelling.

Children learn best through stories, play, and repetition. Our parable lessons are built around that idea — bringing Bible stories to life through simple activities that help children remember and understand. Whether you’re teaching at home, in Sunday School, or at a Christian preschool, these lessons are designed to help your little learners connect with God’s Word in meaningful ways.

How to Use the Parables of Jesus Curriculum

Each parable study is flexible, so you can adapt it to your teaching schedule:

  • In Sunday School or Church Nursery: Teach one parable each month, using one lesson per week.

  • At Home or in Homeschool: Focus on one parable a week, with a short lesson, Bible reading, and activity each day.

Every lesson includes a clear teaching plan, Scripture reference, and a mix of hands-on elements — from crafts and sensory play to memory verse practice and guided prayer. You don’t need to be a Bible teacher to use them — just open, print, gather a few materials, and teach!

Help Children See God’s Love in Every Story

Through these parables, your little ones will discover how God searches for us when we’re lost, that we can always return to Him with a repentant heart, that God’s Word grows in receptive hearts, and that heaven rejoices over every person who comes to faith. These aren’t just Bible lessons — they’re seeds of truth planted in little hearts.
