A Christian Hymn Study for Elementary Children
A gentle, meaningful way to help children learn timeless hymns of the faith through Scripture, history, art, and nature.
The Hymns Collection – Volume 1 was created to help families and teachers intentionally teach hymns to children—not just as songs to memorize, but as rich expressions of biblical truth. Through guided lessons and hands-on activities, children are invited to understand the words they sing, connect them to Scripture, and carry these truths in their hearts.
This collection is especially well-suited for homeschool families and elementary-aged children, with flexible lessons that work beautifully for family-style learning.

How the Curriculum Works
Each hymn is studied over one week using a gentle, Charlotte Mason–inspired approach:
Day 1 – Hymn Context & History
Learn about the hymn writer, the historical setting, and where the hymn was written. Children practice narration, summarization, and retelling.
Day 2 – Scripture Study
Study a Bible passage connected to the hymn, complete with discussion questions and a simple craft.
Day 3 – Art Study
Observe and discuss a famous piece of artwork that connects to the hymn and Scripture, then create a child’s own artistic rendition.
Day 4 – Nature Study
Enjoy a nature-based activity or outdoor craft that encourages time spent in God’s creation.
Optional review games are included to reinforce learning in an engaging way.
